2048 is a sliding-block puzzle built around one simple rule: identical numbers merge. It sounds trivial, but the game is a genuine exercise in planning ahead — the board only gives you one free tile per move, so careless merges fill the grid fast and end the run.

Winning Strategy

The single most reliable technique is the corner strategy. Pick one corner — most players use the bottom-left — and always keep your largest tile locked there. Build a descending chain along the bottom row, then along the edge beside it. Only use the "up" and "down" directions when you have no safe horizontal move left, and never let your big tile drift out of its corner. This keeps the high-value tiles packed together and leaves the rest of the board free for new spawns.

Scores are stored locally in your browser, so your personal best survives a page reload. Nothing is sent to a server.
