Minesweeper
About Minesweeper
Minesweeper is pure deduction. The board hides a fixed number of mines; each revealed number tells you exactly how many mines sit in the eight surrounding cells. From those constraints you work out which cells are safe — and occasionally you are forced to guess, which is where the tension lives.
Reading the Numbers
The two patterns worth memorising: if a 1 touches exactly one unrevealed cell, that cell is a mine. If a numbered cell already has all its mines flagged, every remaining neighbour around it is safe — which is why the board often cascades open in a satisfying chain once you spot it. Start from the corners and edges, where cells have fewer neighbours and the constraints are tightest.
